THIS week we are going back to the 1990s.

This picture shows a visit of Margaret Thatcher to Warrington.

She came shortly before the 1992 General Election to support candidate Chris Butler during the campaign. She was no longer Prime Minister when the visit took place.

She met pupils and staff at Lymm High School. And she sat in on a session for Lymm High School sixth formers at the time.

Mr Butler won the Warrington South seat for the Conservatives in that election, beating Albert Booth, before losing to Labour’s Mike Hall, narrowly, five years later in 1992.
