A COLLISION between a truck and a car was reported in Earlestown this morning.

Residents reported witnessing a heavy emergency service presence around St John Street in Earlestown, including police and the fire service.

Police have confirmed that a two-vehicle collision took place around the junction of St John Street and Sankey Street, at around 10.50am on Wednesday, June 12.

The collision is understood to have involved an Isuzu truck and a Dacia car involved, with the truck seen lying on its side following the incident.

Although the collision caused damage to both vehicles, no serious injuries have been reported.

Residents have previously raised concerns of safety around the town centre junction after several other crashes have been reported there.

Traffic congestion has also been reported following the collision and the nearby sinkhole.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We were called about a road traffic collision involving an Isuzu truck and a Dacia on Sankey Street at 10.50am today (Wednesday, June 12).

"No reports of any serious injuries and the vehicles are in the process of being recovered."
