A BEACON was lit in Warrington to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
It was lit at the top of Hill Cliffe in Appleton and was part of an initiative across the nation to both mark the anniversary and to express gratitude to those who take part in the landings.
The beacon lighting was organised by Warrington Rotary Club – an organisation that aims to make a positive impact in the local community and beyond.
President of the club Angela Houghton said: “It represented our thanks to all who were involved and to remember those who gave their lives and their service for our future.”
