A WARRINGTON primary school that was burgled in the night, has received a generous donation to help restore the items that were stolen.

In the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, January 10, an offender broke into Westbrook Old Hall Primary School and stole a number of expensive items from the premises.

The items taken were a number of tablets from one classroom in the school.

Amazon generously donated £1,000 to the school so that staff could purchase iPads to replace the ones that were taken during the burglary.

Andrew Livingstone, senior operations manager at Amazon in Warrington, said: “We were shocked to hear about the break-in at Westbrook Old Hall Primary School and wanted to do what we could to help those affected.

“Having access to educational development resources is crucial for teachers wanting to do the best for their pupils, so we hope this donation helps to fund their provision.”

Meanwhile, headteacher at Westbrook Old Hall Primary, Mary Lythall-Brennan added: “We would like to say thank you to the team at Amazon in Warrington for this donation and support during a difficult time.

“This donation will bring a much-needed boost to our educational resources for both staff and pupils at the school.”

Amazon supports the communities where it operates and has delivered free computer science and STEM education programmes to more than 700,000 students across the UK through Amazon Future Engineer.

Amazon helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good, including more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in partnership with Magic Breakfast.

And through its Multibank initiative, co-founded with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Amazon has supported more than 200,000 families experiencing poverty, with the donation of more than 2 million surplus essential goods.
