THREE inspiring entrepreneurs who were all made redundant from their jobs have started their own business after finding a unique gap in the market.

Dave Nichol, from Great Sankey, Matt Butters, from Northwich and Mike Sedman, from Widnes, have announced the opening of their own company Localcom.

Formerly all employees at Virgin Media O2, the trio explained that after being let go from their jobs, they began to build and grow an idea that has transpired to be something completely new within the communication service sector.

Detailing the concept of the service, Mike said: “So, Localcom are a provider for communication services for other businesses.

“We can provide business mobiles, cloud voice landlines, business broadband and hardware, such as laptops, tablets, interactive boards ect.

“Each of us have worked in the Telecoms industry for 20 years each - 60 years combined - with Virgin Media O2.

“Our ethos is to offer all customers a dedicated account manager, offering a personable service wrap.

“We aim to disrupt the marketplace by offering this service. We are on a mission to help digitise and future proof local businesses.”

The 38-year-old added that no matter the size of the business, each should be treated ‘fairly’ and be offered an ‘exceptional’ service.

Matt, 41, told how the process of the setting up a business after becoming redundant was a challenging one.

But by joining the Halton and Warrington Chamber of Commerce, good contacts and resources have been provided to help and support them along the way.

Speaking on their new business venture, Dave, 45, said: “We've established a need in the market for all small and medium businesses needed more support in the form of business account management.

“At Localcom we have access to corporate solutions but provide a personable approach to every type of business.

“The journey has been challenging and at time emotional, but we've been able to lean on our 20 years of telecommunications experience and grow our business, now I'm excited about what the future holds.”

Putting a positive twist on the news of the redundancy, Matt added: “I was initially shocked, but I soon realised that this was an opportunity for me to control my own destiny and do something that I perhaps may never had done otherwise.”

Mike echoed the thoughts of his business partners, saying: “We've been able to share our experiences with other local businesses which has helped grow our business, it’s been a really exciting time for us.”
