A PLANNING application for a nine-bedroom HMO in Bewsey has been refused by Warrington Borough Council.

The application was originally submitted to transform 105 Bewsey Road into a multiple occupation residence on April 9.

Floor plans submitted as part of the application showed that two bedrooms would be situated in the basement, two on the ground floor, four on the first floor and one in the loft – all with ensuite bathrooms.

However, the plans were refused by the council on three different grounds yesterday, Tuesday.

The refusal document uploaded to the application highlighted that a lack of natural light for the proposed occupants in the basement rooms was ‘unacceptable’.

It also noted that the applicants did not prove ownership of a section of land shown in the application.

Finally, parking concerns for Bewsey Road were noted as a factor in the plans refusal, stating that the development would ‘likely result in an increased demand for on street parking in an area with existing high demand’.

Representations by residents raising concerns about the potential development.

“I don’t believe there is enough street provision for parking for a nine-bed property,” commented one resident.

“This is owing to the recent completion of a 10 bed HMO property at 115 Bewsey Road, along with existing HMOs in several other properties in very close proximity.

“As a resident of Bewsey Road this is a significant concern.”
