A SUSPECTED drug driver has been arrested after crashing into a bush.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man from Warrington after the grey Audi A6 he was driving came off the roundabout near Daresbury Park.

The car ended up submerged in a bush while the driver was taken to Warrington Hospital.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 6.35am on Sunday (June 2), police in Halton responded to reports of a road traffic incident on a roundabout near Daresbury Park, Halton.

“Attending the scene, officers found that a grey Audi A6 had come off the carriageway when exiting the roundabout.

“The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old man from Warrington, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

“He was not injured during the incident but was taken to Warrington Hospital as a precaution and has since been released under investigation.”

Sharing a photo of the car on Halton Brook Police Facebook page, PCSO Paul Barker said: "My first job this morning was assisting with the recovery of the pictured vehicle - firmly embedded on the safety rail above a busy motorway junction.

"This picture perfectly shows what can happen when you don't pay attention to one or more of the fatal five - speeding, careless driving, driving distracted whilst using a mobile phone, drink or drug driving, and not wearing a seat belt.

"The driver of this vehicle was incredibly lucky to walk away, to the back of our police van, after allegedly doing four of the above.

"Please drive safely."
