AN inquest has opened into the death of a man who died at Warrington Hospital, days after having teeth taken out.
Grzegorz Jaworek, of Marsh House Lane, Warrington, died on May 21, this year.
The 39-year-old had dental surgery earlier in the week to extract some teeth, Warrington Coroners’ Court heard on Wednesday.
A coroner’s officer said: “He attended hospital with problems with his throat and shortness of breath.
“He rapidly deteriorated and died in the early hours of the following morning.
“The reason for an inquest is family concerns about dental treatment and the hospital response.
“It is requested that an inquest be opened and adjourned for further work to be completed.”
Jacqueline Devonish, senior coroner for Cheshire, opened the inquest and adjourned it until October 29.
A case review will be held on August 4.
Ali Kennah, chief nurse at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Jaworek’s family and friends for their loss.
"We will assist the coronial investigation in any way we can and will continue to support Mr Jaworek’s family during this process.”
