BUILDERS have resumed construction on a £41million housing project after the collapse of a Warrington developer.

Work stopped on Onward Homes’ 215-home scheme in Helsby after Warrington-based Lane End Developments Construction entered administration about 14 months ago.

The firm, based on Stockport Road in Thelwall, owed almost £12million to creditors before collapsing and employed around 100 members of staff.

It carried out work on a huge £16.3million scheme to build 100 affordable homes on Academy Way, formerly home to a Kwik Save, named Roebuck Plaza back in recent years.

One project it was on-site on was in Helsby, causing work to cease, but construction is now back underway after Countryside Partnerships took on the development.

Supported by a grant from Government agency Homes England, the scheme of two, three and four-bed homes for shared ownership, affordable rent and rent-to-buy will be developed in line with current planning consent.

It is hoped properties at the development, called Pavilion Park, will be ready for residents to move into in 2025.
