BIRCHWOOD Park has announced the completion of the first stage of a multi-million pound refurbishment as part of its sustainability strategy.
The refurbishment of Chadwick House, which is considered one of the most iconic buildings in the business park, is due to be completed this summer.
The park has been making efforts to modernise and bring greater energy efficiency to its flexible working spaces, aligned with the goal of achieving net-zero by 2023 in all managed areas across the site in Warrington.
Now that the first stage of this refurbishment has been completed, Birchwood Park has welcomed Persimmon Homes into the newly designed office in Chadwick House.
“We are thrilled to see the first stage of Chadwick House’s refurbishment come to fruition,” said Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Birchwood Park.
“This transformation not only revitalised one of our most historic and recognisable buildings, but also reinforces our commitment to providing top-tier facilities for our occupiers and improving the environmental performance of offices.”
The refurbishment includes upgrades aimed at improving the buildings energy efficiency, taking its EPC rating from a D to a B.
It also includes a new façade, city lounge-style reception and a communal working space with fresh coffee.
Energy-efficient LED lighting and a new VRF comfort cooling system have been installed to replace the gas central heating and move from fossil fuel to green electricity.
“These enhancements are part of Birchwood Park’s broader sustainability initiatives,” said Martin.
“Across the Park, 100 per cent renewable electricity suppliers are used in all managed buildings.
“We also recycle more than 70 per cent of all waste, as well as ensuring zero waste is sent directly to landfill.
“A green travel plan, including free bus services across Warrington, supports eco-friendly commuting options for all and we look forward to welcoming new businesses to our community.”
