A TALENTED young dancer is living his dream as he has been invited to perform with the English Youth Ballet for the second time.
George Alderson, aged 11 and from Newton-Le-Willows, first started to be interested in dancing after he would dance around the house once his sister came back from lessons.
“He just kind of copied his sister around the house dancing and I was watching him one day and I thought he was really good,” his mum, Sandra, said.
“He took to it really naturally and he loves doing it.”
At 7-years-old, George was taken to his first dance class at R W Dance in Newton-Le Willows, where his sister, Olivia, has been dancing from a young age.
Now, George dances multiple times a week in various different styles including ballet, jazz, ballroom and Latin and also attends competitions with TT Dance.
“He’s brilliant at all of it and I think he’s going to find it hard to decide which route to go down but I think secretly ballet is his passion,” said Sandra.
“Academically things have never come easy to George, so the fact he’s able to dance and do it as well as he can do it, I just think he’s able to let his creativity flow and be himself.
“He’s a bundle of joy, he’s 100 miles an hour, he’s always been like that, and he’s channelled in a really positive way when he’s dancing.”
George, who attends Hope Academy in Newton-Le-Willows, hopes to become a professional dancer as he grows and continue performing.
“He absolutely loves it. I always say now, I don’t know what we would have done if he hadn’t found dancing,” said Sandra.
Earlier this year, George performed with the English Ballet for the first time in a production of Cinderella at Manchester Opera House after auditioning at an open call.
After the success of his debut performance with the English Youth Ballet, the young dancer was invited back to perform in their next production, Swan Lake, and will be taking to the stage at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8.
George’s parents, Sandra and Rob, recently watched a run through of the production of Swan Lake and were filled with immense pride as their son danced.
“It’s just so emotional, it’s hard to believe that only four years ago he started on this journey, and you just sit there with immense pride," said Sandra.
“We watched the run through and myself and my husband just looked at each other in tears.”
“He works really hard for it, he puts his heart and soul into it.”
It isn’t just George landing roles in productions, though, as his sister Olivia will also be performing as Romeo in an RW Dance production of Romeo and Juliet at the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn on June 15.
Tickets to the English Youth Ballet’s production of Swan Lake can be purchased at victoriatheatre.co.uk or by calling 01422 351158.
