QUEUING traffic has been reported following a crash this morning, Monday.

Emergency services closed Greystone Road in Penketh following an accident at around 8.35am, at the junction with Honiton Way.

One fire engine from Penketh Fire Station attended the collision, with firefighters freeing people trapped in a vehicle and handing them over to care of paramedics on the scene.

Heavy traffic is being reported in the area as a result, particularly on Greystone Road, Honiton Way, Meeting Lane and Warrington Road.

In a social media post this morning, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters are currently at the scene of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Greystone Road and Honiton Way in Penketh.

“There is a road closure in place so please avoid the area if possible.”

A spokesman for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At 8.37am on Monday, June 3, police were called to reports of a collision on Greystone Road, at the junction with Honiton Way.

“Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a black Vauxhall Grandland and a beige Fiat 500.

“Three people were injured as a result of the collision. They have all been passed to the care of North West Ambulance Service.

“Both roads remain closed at this time while recovery work is undertaken.”
