POLICE have named two suspects charged with possessing illegal drugs with intent to supply it to others.

It follows a raid by officers at an address in Orford earlier this week, with witnesses reporting that police led people from the property, reportedly in handcuffs.

Cheshire Police has confirmed that it executed a warrant at a house on Gorsey Lane at around 9.45am on Wednesday morning.

Two people – a man and a woman – have since been charged with possession of crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply it to others in Warrington.

They both appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Thursday, where they confirmed their personal details but did not enter pleas.

The male suspect was remanded in custody, while the female suspect was released on unconditional bail.

Magistrates sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court, with the pair next due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 27.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Two people have been charged following a warrant in Warrington.

“Robert Hughes, aged 42 and of Gorsey Lane, Warrington, and Michaela Howarth, aged 29 and of Poplars Avenue, Warrington, were arrested on Wednesday, May 29.

“They have since been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs, namely heroin and crack cocaine.

“They appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, Ma y30. They will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, June 27.

“The charges relate to a warrant which was carried out by officers at 9.45am at an address on Gorsey Lane, Warrington, on Wednesday, May 29.”
