A MAN and woman pair have been hauled before the courts for stealing from a Warrington shop.

Martin Gunning and June Edwards made off from B&Q Warrington without paying for items worth hundreds of pounds.

They visited the Winwick store on two occasions on the same day, but were caught and made to appear before Chester Magistrates' Court.

Here, 45-year-old Gunning and 59-year-old Edwards, both of the same address, entered guilty pleas to all charges put to them.

They each faced two counts of theft from a shop, with a total value of £745.50.

The court heard from prosecutor Jessica Pridding how both offences occurred on May 26.

The pair entered B&Q Warrington, on Delph Lane, on two occasions, first taking DIY goods worth £336, and then taking DIY products worth £409.50.

Accepting their guilty pleas, magistrates adjourned the case for the preparation of pre-sentence reports.

The defendants, of York Road in Huyton, were released on conditional bail not to enter any B&Q store in England or Wales.

They are next due to appear before Warrington Magistrates’ Court to be sentenced on June 28.
