A PERSONAL trainer combined her love of fitness and motherhood to create baby fitness classes for new mums to enjoy.

Kay Johnson, from Great Sankey, began running the classes after falling pregnant with her first child two years ago, as a way to adapt her self-made business.

Detailing how the classes have grown in popularity since then, she said: “I started running the baby fitness classes with ten mums.

“Now I host two classes based in Warrington for around 40 to 45 mums every week.”

The mum-of-one hosts a Monday class in St Thomas Church in Stockton Heath, as well as Thursday classes in Hood Lane Community Centre, Great Sankey – from 10am to 11am.

And the sessions focus on circuit-based training for new mums from six to 12 weeks postpartum – depending health wise what advise is given from the midwife.

“I provide all the equipment needed and lots of toys for the babies too.

“We have lots of time to chat and catch up with everyone and all my classes are suitable for any fitness ability,” Kay added.

Classes run in six-week blocks throughout the year and are £55 per block.

Kay spoke of her reasoning behind extending her business, saying: “These classes are designed for mums to do something for them on their maternity leave, not to have to worry about childcare and to bond with their babies all at the same time.

“It’s a great way to meet new mums and also look after mums’ mental health to have a safe place to chat, laugh and ask questions.”
