THE teaching space available at a high school in Warrington can be increased.
Plans were submitted to Warrington Borough Council’s planning department by St Gregory's RC High School.
The Cromwell Avenue sought permission for a single storey extension for the benefit of its autism spectrum disorder unit.
This has now been given the go-ahead by council planners.
The materials will match existing to be in-keeping with the rest of the building, with new windows to allow natural light and ventilation.
Documents submitted as part of the application stated: “The single storey infill extension is to extend the school's autism spectrum disorder unit.
“The area for extension is currently unused by the school. It is currently fenced off with a wooden gate for access.
“Extension to the existing school will allow for greater space for students with autism spectrum disorder.”
In approving the plans, the council said: “The proposed single storey infill extension would comply with the criteria of permitted development.
“It is therefore recommended that a lawful development certificate for the proposed development is approved.”
