STUDENTS from five primary schools in Warrington and St Helens visited Denmark as part of a project to help improve mental health and wellbeing.
The project, which was organised by Global Learning Association (GLA), helps partner schools in the UK with others around the world.
In 2023, the deputy director of GLA, Wendy De Corte, successfully applied to pair five schools in the Warrington and St Helens area with five schools in Denmark to work together to help improve mental health and wellbeing.
The five schools included Croft Primary School, Statham Community Primary School in Lymm, Penketh South Primary School, Appleton Thorn Primary School and Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School in St Helens.
Ten pupils from each school, as well as three members of staff, each took part in the trip – with 65 people travelling to Denmark in total.
The pupils, which are in year five and six, have been learning different aspects of Danish culture through digital exchanges, including zoom calls.
On Monday, May 20 the pupils flew from Manchester Airport to Copenhagen, where they began their journey across the country.
The students took part in lessons in schools, on the beach and in forests, where they learnt problem solving and cooked Danish food.
The unique trip lasted four days, and the pupils returned home on Friday, May 24.
