WARRINGTON’S two MPs have shared their views after a General Election was called.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the General Election will be held on July 4.
Labour Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols has issued a statement.
She said: “After nearly five long years, three failed Prime Ministers, economic collapse and a cost of living crisis, failing public services and an atrocious list of scandals too long to repeat, a General Election has finally been called.
“In just six weeks we will have the opportunity to eject this disastrous Tory government and replace it with stability, dedication to public service and hope.
“I will be campaigning hard and making the case for this change, and I hope that Labour will win the support of the people of Warrington as well as the UK, and form a government that we can finally be proud of again.”
Conservative Warrington South MP Andy Carter has also shared his views.
In a post on his Facebook page, he said: “Standing up for you and our constituency has been at the heart of every decision that I have taken as your Member of Parliament.
“I’m looking forward to getting behind whoever Warrington Conservative members select as their prospective parliamentary candidate for Warrington South and putting the Prime Minister’s clear plan for securing Britain’s future to voters in the new Warrington South constituency.”
