A TEENAGER found with nearly £4,000 worth of class A drugs in Latchford has been given his ‘one and only chance’ by a judge.

Khiarn Chandler, of Lawnhurst Avenue in Manchester, was sentenced in Liverpool Crown Court on Friday.

The 18-year-old was arrested in a property in Latchford in February after a tip off was given to police that drugs were being dealt from the house.

After observing the property, police entered where they found Chandler, who admitted that he was in possession of drugs.

A search of Chandler revealed no drugs on his person, however £2,670 worth of crack cocaine and £1,150 of heroin, as well as £585 in cash, was found within the property.

The court heard that Chandler was involved in the operation after he found himself in ‘drug debt’.

The teenager pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of criminal property on February 16.

The defence for Chandler, Mr O’Brien, informed the court that the defendant was being assessed for ADHD and that he had a turbulent upbringing, but that he was now attempting to seek meaningful employment.

Chandler was given a two-year suspended sentence for possession with the intent to supply, and a six month sentence for possession of criminal property also suspended for two years, running concurrently with each other.

He was also sentenced to 20 days rehabilitation activity and 140 hours of unpaid work.

“This will be your one and only chance to seek to rehabilitate yourself,” said Judge David Aubrey KC while delivering his sentencing remarks.

“You have a choice in life - that choice will be either to spend longer and longer in custody or alternatively make something of yourself.

“You are entitled to one chance and one chance alone.

“It is now your choice as to whether you take it or not.”
