AN eatery in Warrington town centre has been hit with an abysmal food hygiene rating of zero.

Gloria’s Cuisine Ltd on Town Hill has received the lowest possible rating following a recent inspection by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The FSA, which is responsible for ensuring that establishments are up to scratch and following relevant food hygiene regulations, visited the eatery last month.

Gloria's Cuisine Ltd, which ‘celebrates the best of British, Nigerian, African and Caribbean flavours’, was inspected against the following criteria:

Hygienic food handling - Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.

Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building - Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.

Management of food safety - System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

The FSA said that urgent improvement is necessary in the takeaway’s management of food safety and hygiene food handling, while improvement is necessary in the other category.
