THE location of a new gastropub run by the owners of a much-loved independent eatery has been revealed.
Last month, Café at the End of the Universe confirmed that it was expanding with a new American inspired venue named the Eagle and Spaceman.
The business, which prides itself on using top-quality ingredients and is one of the town’s most popular food spots, started up in 2015 and has been based at Warrington Market since 2020.
Thanks to its success and brilliant reputation in the town and beyond, owner Andy Kinsella and the team began a crowdfunder to launch the new gastropub venture.
This raised more than £6,000, it has been confirmed, with the location of the eatery now revealed.
“The crowdfunder is officially over. We raised £6,351 in 14 days through 141 supporters,” a post on the Eagle and Spaceman social media page read.
“Thanks to everyone who pledged to our crowdfunder and gave us a boost to get us up and running. We will update everyone how the money is spent.
“Our founders wall will be a mirror with the logo and names etched on.
“We had lots of people messaging because they missed the cut off for the crowdfunder but they wanted to get their name in the wall.
“We can still do this, and any other rewards until the end of May. After that, we will have to have a cut-off point. Message us for details.
“Some of you guessed already, but we will be opening our new American inspired gastropub on Church Street.
“It will be opposite Pure Gym and in-between our new neighbours, The Tavern Sports Bar and The Bulls Head.
“We are mega excited to get this up and running, and there is lots to do before we will hopefully be opening in mid-June.”
Café at the End of the Universe started out as a food van at events and comic cons.
Since then it has twice been named as a finalist in the British takeaway awards and has won Warrington’s best independent business, best customer service and best burger.
Eagle and Spaceman will combine American pub food and bar snacks with American beer and spirits.
Sample menu items include meat lover pizza spring rolls, a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and chicken fried steak.
The gastropub would also stock a range of American beers and whiskeys such as Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada and Blue Moon, as well as lots of smaller US breweries.
