AREAS across Warrington have been issued with flood alerts.
It follows persistent and heavy rain in the area, with an amber weather warning previously issued.
A yellow weather warning will remain in place across the north west until midday.
At present, two flood alerts are in force in Warrington, warning that flooding is possible and urging residents to be prepared.
They cover areas of Burtonwood, Winwick, Gemini, Callands, Old Hall, Dallam, Sankey Valley Park, Orford, Sankey Bridges, Penketh and Great Sankey.
The waterways covered are Sankey Canal, Sankey Brook, Phipps Brook, Dallam Brook, Longford Brook, Whittle Brook and Penketh Brook.
The alerts state: “Water levels are high and forecast to rise further due to heavy rainfall.
“Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the waterways, with low-lying land and roads expected to be most affected.
“Further heavy rainfall is forecast. We will continue to monitor the forecast and river levels and re-issue this alert if necessary.”
