SUNDAY roast with beef or turkey – or maybe both – served with maple glazed carrots, sauteed red cabbage and white wine creamed leeks.
Triple cooked crispy roast potatoes and buttery mash finished with a Yorkshire pudding, shaved parsnip and homemade, mouth-watering gravy.
The Blue Bell, on Horsemarket Street, serves the best roast dinner in town.
Last month, we launched our Best of 2024 competition.
This year’s search for Warrington’s best in a whole host of categories started with hair and Kate Lucy Hair Studio was crowned our first winner quickly followed by Tomlins Bakehouse and their pies.
Next up were picture perfect nails with By Maisie Beck taking the title and then we moved onto roast dinners with customers and readers sending their nominations and votes for their Sunday favourites.
Voting for Warrington’s Best for Cocktails is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Breakfast.

Twelve tasty roast dinners in Warrington made the shortlist for Best for Roast Dinner with The Blue Bell taking this year’s coveted crown.
Graeme and Chris took over at The Blue Bell on Horsemarket Street in the town centre in February this year.
Chris is the owner of HC Promotions putting on live events in Warrington including Indie Disco and Ibiza Symphonic and Graeme owns Dead Eyes Cocktail Bar and Subway franchises.
Chris, who is 43, said: “It’s a traditional pub that thrives on selling great food with breakfast in the morning, light bites, homemade burgers, steaks and pies as well as several vegan options, gluten-free meals and more.
“Let’s not forget our now award-winning Sunday roasts!
“We have a large range of beers, cask ales, gins and cocktails and we have live music every Saturday night with local bands performing.
“Chris and I already own other businesses and have been good friends for a few years.
“We had our eye on doing something together and when we saw The Blue Bell was available - a great local pub that has been in Warrington since before Queen Victoria - we had to give it a go.
“We felt we had the perfect combination of knowledge to make The Blue Bell a success.”
Graeme, who is 37, said: “Most pubs are run the same way and Warrington is blessed with so many great venues.
“What we strive to do is always deliver a great customer experience from breakfast service to our late-night goers that come for a great drink in a great atmosphere.
“Our live entertainment at night is always first class and there’s always a good atmosphere in the pub.
“We’re very much hands on owners and are always speaking with our customers to get feedback on how we can keep improving.
“When we came into the pub, our first mission was to serve a first class Sunday Roast and be famous for it.
“So, to win Warrington’s Best Roast Dinner within our first three months makes us very proud of the team.”
What do customers think about The Blue Bell Sunday favourite? Why did they want the venue to win our latest award?
One nomination said: “The Blue Bell, under new management, does an amazing Sunday roast.
“Top quality ingredients, succulent meat, crisp roasties and tasty homemade gravy.
“Highly recommended.”
Graeme said: “Our chefs put so much time and effort into the Sunday roasts and we couldn’t be prouder of them for this achievement.
“We were honoured to be shortlisted for Warrington’s Best for Roast Dinner – it’s a privilege to be in the mix with so many great restaurants and pubs.
“We were absolutely delighted to hear that we’d won.
“For everyone’s hard work to be recognised in this way is fantastic.
“Our chefs George, Mike, Josh and Ryan have been so passionate about our roasts and the front of house team and general manager Alex are all striving to provide a first class customer service experience.
“The best thing about running The Blue Bell is working with an unbelievable team and getting to know our customers.
“We would like to thank all our customers that have voted and taken the time to give to us their support.
“We’d also like to congratulate the other venues that made the shortlist.”
