WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Warrington Guardian Camera Club group.

This week, we’re talking to Jayne Jones, who lives in Grappenhall.

She started taking photographs when she was seven and has always had a camera ever since.

When and why did you take up photography?

My first memory of taking photos was on a school trip when I was about seven. I had a Kodak instamatic and I had to get the film processed. I have always had a camera ever since.

What do you love about taking pictures?

I’ve travelled to many countries around the world and taking photos becomes part of the memories. In 2016 I won Cheshire Life’s Amateur Photographer of the Year, which really helped up my photography.

What is your favourite subject matter and why?

I mostly shoot landscape. I love the fact that it is tranquil, relaxing and an opportunity to get away from the stresses of everyday life.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?

I have a fondness for water. This can include the sea, boats, beaches, lighthouses in the sea, canals, waterfalls, reflections, lochs, lakes, tarns and llyns. The weather is always different, the clouds are always different, the wind speed is always different, the light is always different, so you always get a different result - even if you return to the same location.
