A PLANNING application to build a new care home on the Omega development has been approved.

The application was submitted to Warrington Borough Council in November last year and outlined the plans for the care home.

However objections from residents included the size of the building and its potential to overlook new homes built on the site.

Floorplans show that building will have 66-bedrooms, several lounges and a garden room across three floors.

The plot that has been approved for the care home is south west of Fortress Boulevard.

Further documents, including floor plans and a 3D image of the building were submitted in December and January.

The application was approved by the council on Tuesday, subject to conditions.

These conditions include ensure that the planting shown in the submitted drawings are implemented by the first planting season following the building occupation.

Another is that the surface water drainage of the site will be designed to prevent the discharge of water on the public highway.

While the plan has been approved, documents detail that three residents near to the site presented objections to the care home being built.

Reasons for the objection listed include that the building will tower over a newly constructed residential development and cause a loss of light to the dwellings.

Other reasons for concerns were that house prices may drop as a result and that the style of the building is not in keeping with the local area.

The Omega development includes thousands of houses and is home to business giants such as Amazon, the Post Office, Domino’s and The Hut Group.
