EMERGENCY services attended Warrington Parkrun after a runner suffered a serious medical episode.
A runner, who attended the Victoria Park run, was tended to by paramedics this morning, Saturday.
Warrington Parkrun detailed the incident on social media this afternoon, stating that the individual had suffered a 'serious medical episode' while taking part in the event and was taken to Warrington Hospital.
A spokesperson for Warrington Parkrun said: "The person in question is now under the care of Warrington Hospital ICU department and receiving appropriate care.
"We understand they are now breathing without support.
"Without the efforts of everyone who assisted, including the wonderful paramedic who we believe was called Emma, the reactions of our volunteer team, and the presence of the course defib, the situation could have been much worse.
"Our thoughts go out to the person concerned as we await news on their condition."
The Parkrun team also thanked al the volunteers and members of the public who assisted in helping the runner.
