WORK has started to being a new takeaway to Warrington town centre.
Pepe's chicken, which calls itself ‘the home of flame grilled chicken’, is set to open soon.
Branding put on the building on Sankey Street promises to whet the appetite of shoppers.
The venue, which is currently vacant, was previously home to the much-loved Acoustic Café before it closed.
Opened in 2018, it housed live music as well as coffee, cocktails and food.
The business premises was previously listed for let at a guide price of £20,000 per annum.
Applicant KOA Warrington Ltd says that there will be seven full-time staff present on site at all times, while five part-time staff would also be employed.
Plans for the work were approved by Warrington Borough Council earlier this year.
Documents submitted with the plans stated: “The internal layout will be altered on the ground floor to provide a suitable layout for a restaurant, which would be beneficial for the community as it would provide for a healthy style of food, which is limited in the area.
“The proposal will serve the large community, of which are residential and commercial, with healthy grilled food.
“The proposed restaurant will help regenerate the current building and help inject money back into the community by providing jobs to locals and providing a healthy option of food.”
They add: “The proposed restaurant will provide a family friendly dining experience with family seating areas, providing healthy grilled food as part of the new healthy style of living – something which is limited in the area and would be very successful."
