TWO fierce queens from the iconic runway of RuPaul’s Drag Race will headline this year’s Warrington Pride.
Season 4 winner Danny Beard and the sensational Tia Kofi, who was recently crowned RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World winner, will take to the stage to perform individually at the event, which is predicted to be a sell-out.
They will be headlining Glitter at Warrington Pride 2024 which will be hosted by the Golden Square.
Ian Cox, Golden Square's centre director, said: "We're bringing the glitter, the glam and all of the sass to Golden Square for Warrington Pride 2024.
“Danny Beard and Tia Kofi are ready to ‘werk it’, and we can't wait to see them perform."
It comes as Warrington Pride is making its much-welcomed return to the town centre next month, with an emphasis on diversity and community inclusion.
Building on the success of last year's event, the 2024 edition will take place as part of Pride Month, with the support of the Golden Square, as well as Warrington Borough Council, Warrington BID, Warrington Market, Culture Warrington, Warrington Youth Zone, University of Chester, LiveWire, HC Promotions and United Utilities.
It aims to bring the community together in the spirit of acceptance and solidarity and will feature a programme of activities, including exciting events, thought-provoking talks, performances and creative showcases.
Ian added: “Get ready to paint the town rainbow and join us for the most fabulous party of the year.”
Warrington Pride 2024 will also feature live music, performances, workshops and a parade through the streets of the town, as well as hosting a variety of vendors and community organisations providing resources and support for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies.
TAGS (Teenagers, Gender & Sexuality), Warrington Borough Council’s Early Help LGBTQ+ Youth Support Service, provides LGBTQIA+ support to young people aged 11-17 years (Youth TAGS) and 17 - 24 years.
The organisation offers a safe space to meet, socialise, access support, and develop skills and confidence, while empowering and inspiring its users to pursue leading roles in the future.
Andrea Morley, project manager for Warrington BID, said: "We couldn't be more excited to welcome Danny Beard and Tia Kofi to Warrington Pride 2024 and their performances are sure to elevate the celebration to new heights.
"This entire Pride event is a testament to our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our community, and we're proud to be part of such a vibrant and joyous occasion."
Tickets for the Glitter event go on sale this Friday at 11am, May 10, and are just £5 plus booking fee, in order to make the event as accessible as possible.
