THUNDERSTORMS and heavy rain are expected across Cheshire.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning set to come into force at 1pm today and last until 9pm.
The warning covers the majority of the north of England, as well as some of North Wales and Scotland.
Forecasters have warned that thunderstorms and heavy downpours 'may cause flooding and travel disruption' this afternoon and into this evening.
Heavy rain is likely to cause difficult driving conditions and may lead to some road closures.
The Met Office says: "Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are likely to break out in some places this afternoon and evening.
"Although not all places will catch these storms and downpours, where they do occur 20 to 40mm of rain may fall in some places in an hour or two.”
There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
