A COUPLE from Padgate have had more than £2,000 worth of stone slabs stolen from their driveway.
Ruairi Lennon first noticed that the stone slabs that line his driveway after a painter working at his house asked him why they had decided to have the driveway dug up.
The 44-year-old who runs a wood flooring business was devastated to see the extent of the damage caused to his property on Sunday, April 14.
“We were really shocked that someone would do this, vandalise and destroy a beautiful drive and steal someone’s property in such a brazen way,” said Ruairi.
“Obviously myself and my wife were devastated at the intrusion, damage and theft.
“They were taken in broad daylight without anyone thinking anything of it.”
The stolen slabs, which are made from York stone, are estimated to cost more than £2,000.
“I’m now trying to source something suitable to replace it with but it’s so expensive,” said Ruairi.
“I just want anyone with York stone driveways to be extra vigilant and anyone who is buying stone for their own projects to be certain that they’re not stolen.
“If anyone has any information, I would be grateful if they would get in touch with Cheshire police.”
Anyone with any information can call the police on 101.
