GULLIVER’S World is set to host a Toy Bank weekend to help children affected by domestic abuse.
The amusement park, which is based in Old Hall, will be the host for national charity, KidsOut, which supports mothers and children who have escaped domestic abuse.
Gulliver’s World is reducing the cost of theme park tickets for the weekend of April 27 and 28 in return for one brand new toy to donate to KidsOut.
Instead of the usual £22 for an online advance booking, families can pay £14 for entry and the toy they donate will be put in toy boxes that KidsOut put together for children across the UK.
“KidsOut does so much wonderful work with disadvantaged children, and we are pleased to be able to support the charity,” said Craig Clews, resort director at Gulliver’s World.
“Families are what the four Gulliver’s World theme park resorts are all about and so the work of KidsOut is very close to our heart.
“Any new toy will do, large or small, which we will add to our toy bank – they will all go towards bringing a little hope to children who endured incredibly difficult times.”
More than 20,000 children flee domestic abuse each year and see sanctuary in refuge or a safehouse.
Each toy box contains 10 new toys and helps children who have very little regain a sense of normality.
“Over 930 children are supported in the Warrington area by KidsOut, who are residing in local refuges, through our Toy Box project so it’s fantastic Gulliver’s World is on board to support us,” said Lousie Sherwood, community engagement manager at KidsOut.
The toy drive will be taking place across all four Gulliver’s sites across the UK.
Tickets can be purchased here and to redeem the discounted price, just bring along a brand new toy to donate on the day of entry.
