A BRAND new car has ploughed through the window of a shop in Knutsford town centre.
A shocked man in the street heard an ‘almighty bang’ as the Skoda crashed through the glass into Midas Jewellers.
The car, driven by a 75-year-old woman, has ended up right in the middle of the showroom.
Amazingly, none of the glass cabinets full of necklaces, rings and watches appear to have been broken.
Robert Stott, 59, of Knutsford, said: “I heard an almighty bang.
“It sounded like glass.
“I walked down the road and thought: ‘Oh my Lord, what’s happened’.
“I couldn’t believe it.”
Robert, a gardener, was walking to his van at around 9am this morning, Wednesday, when he heard the crash.
“A brand new car had crashed into the shop.
“I don’t know how he’s done it.”
The fire service has cordoned off the area.
Knutsford Town Council has urged people to avoid King Street whilst emergency services deal with the incident.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “Attending the scene, officers found that a blue Skoda Karoq had collided with the front window of a commercial premises on King Street.
“The driver of the vehicle, 75-year-old local woman, was not injured during the collision.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
An appeal has been made to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or online, quoting IML-1797152.
