A GROUP of parents, teachers and governors at a school in Latchford fundraising money to help lower the cost of school trips for their students.
Latchford St James, a Church of England Primary school, has started fundraising to reduce the cost of school trips and extra-curricular activities by taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge.
After calculating a cost estimate for a school trip to Liverpool Museum, teachers at the school realised the price per child increased from £8 to £22.50.
“At Latchford St James we believe that these experiences are invaluable for our children,” said head teacher, Andrew Hayes.
“These trips enable children to develop their self-confidence, have experiences of the world they have never had before and support them in developing positive mental health.
“We do not want to see any of our children miss out.”
Now, a group made up of parents, teachers and governors at the school are attempting to raise money to help ease the cost of these trips by taking on the Three Peaks Challenge.
The group have already conquered Snowdon, in Wales, and are attempting to raise £6,000 by completing the other two peaks.
So far, the group have raised £560 through their GoFundMe.
“This fundraising event will allow more children to access school trips by either school subsidising the cost of the trip significantly or by helping us invest in alternative transport, like a minibus,” said Andrew.
“Either way, more children will get to benefit and continue experiencing more outside of the classroom.”
