A LORRY has overturned on the M6 southbound causing 90 minute delays and eight mile long queues.
A complex recovery operation is ongoing after a lorry partially overturned on to the verge on the M6 southbound.
North West Motorway Police took to X, formerly Twitter, to confirm the collision at 8.21am this morning, Wednesday.
The collision occurred between junction 19 for the M56 at Lymm Interchange and junction 20 for Northwich and Knutsford at Tabley.
Two lanes were closed, according to National Highways, due to the stranded heavy goods vehicle requiring recovery.
The lorry has now been righted and moved to the hard shoulder while the process to remove the vehicle is underway.
There remains nine miles of congestion and an estimated 90 minute delay.
Those planning to travel via the M6 southbound have been advised to allow extra time and consider taking alternative routes.
