A GULLIVER’S World employee is celebrating 30 years of working at the amusement park after starting there at 18-years-old.
John Lucy started working as a ride operator at the amusement park in 1994 and is now one of the longest serving members of staff.
After working as a ride operator for four years, John applied to work at Gilliver’s Land in Milton Keynes – but was persuaded to stay in Warrington to look after park care.
“I love the unpredictability of the job,” said John.
“Each day is so varied, with a range of tasks – including jet washing, litter picking and leaf blowing – that need to be completed to ensure the park always looks its best.”
John has been a part of many events at Gulliver’s World over the past three decades including playing Father Christmas during the amusement parks festive season.
“The best thing about Gulliver’s World is that you are not treated like a worker, but as a member of the family,” said John.
“I’m happy to say that I’m committed to working at Gulliver’s for the rest of my working life.”
Gulliver’s World, which is in Old Hall, will be celebrating its 35th anniversary this year after opening in 1989.
“John is a much-loved member of the Gulliver’s World family, and we are proud that he has chalked up 30 years with us – with many more to come,” said Craig Clews, resort director at Gulliver’s World.
“John is a fine example of what we strive to achieve.”
