A WARRINGTON couple celebrated their wedding anniversary – in the same place their had their wedding reception 65 years earlier.
Maureen and John Johnson, 85 and 88, fell in love at first sight when they met and danced together at a dance in the Dingle Hotel in Lymm.
After that night, John asked his cousin to find out who the girl he had danced with was, and when he found out he took Maureen to the Ritz cinema for their first date.
The couple have been together ever since and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last week on Thursday, March 21.
“There’s no special reason for having a happy marriage – we just get on well together,” said John when asked what the secret is to such a successful marriage.
The pair have lived in Grappenhall for the past 62 years, where they had two children, Christine and Ian, who helped plan their anniversary dinner at The Spread Eagle in Lymm, where they had their wedding reception 65 years prior.
“We had a lovely evening, it was beautiful,” said John.
