WARRINGTON Pride is set to make its vibrant return to the town centre this June.
The annual celebration brings the LGBTQ+ community together to celebrate acceptance and will this year have a focus on diversity and inclusion.
As part of pride month, the event will take place on Saturday, June 8 and will include a programme of activities, events and performances.
“Through collaboration efforts and a passion to make a difference, this is our commitment in creating a town where every individual feels valued and embraced for who they are,” said Ian Cox, director of Golden Square.
Golden Square, Warrington Borough Council, Warrington BID and a number of other local groups and organisations will be supporting the event again this year.
“Warrington Pride provides a platform for both unity and understanding and Golden Square is proud to support Warrington Pride and its mission of inclusivity,” said Ian.
A number of vendors and community organisations will be providing resources and support for LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout the event.
A parade through the streets of the town is also planned to take place this year.
“Events like Warrington Pride stand as beacons of acceptance and solidarity, right at the heart of our community,” said Sharon Johnson and Jamie Graham, representatives of Teenagers, Gender & Sexuality (TAGS) – Warrington Borough Council’s LGBTQ+ support service.
“Through its celebration and advocacy, Warrington Pride illuminated the path towards a more inclusive and compassionate society, where diversity is not only accepted but celebrated,” they continued.
Last June, thousands of people took to the streets of Warrington during the Pride event and this year organisers hope to repeat the success.
“Such events provide invaluable opportunities for individuals from all walks of life to come together, share experiences and create lasting connections,” said Andrea Morley, project manager for Warrington BID.
“They play a vital role in promoting understanding, acceptance, and mutual respect, contributing to the fabric of our vibrant town.”
