A WOMAN was injured after being kicked in the face by teens armed with a knife in a terrifying park robbery in broad daylight.

At around 2.29pm yesterday, Monday, Cheshire Police officers responded to reports of an armed robbery in Sankey Valley Park.

The caller reported that a 41-year-old woman was sat on a park bench just off the pathway along Sankey Canal.

She was approached by two unknown individuals, believed to be teenage boys, who threatened her and demanded that she hand over all her possessions.

The woman refused, at which point one of the boys revealed a small knife to her and she handed over £30 in cash.

They proceeded to threaten her further, asking for her phone, and when she refused and made an attempt to retrieve her stolen money, one of the boys kicked her in the face, causing considerable facial bruising.

They then fled on foot in the direction of Warrington Hospital.

Cheshire Police says enquiries in relation to this incident are currently ongoing, and as part of their investigation officers are appealing to anyone with information or video footage to get in touch.

DS Stephen Hopkins said: “This ordeal has left the victim considerably shaken, and enquiries are currently underway to identify those responsible.

“As part of our investigation, I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and believes that they may have seen anything suspicious.

“I would also ask residents in the area to check their CCTV or video doorbell footage to see if they have anything which may aid our investigation.

“The same goes for any motorists with any dashcam footage.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML-1775505, or visit the force’s website.
