A soul-stirring concert experience paying tribute to a hit movie of the early 90s is coming to Parr Hall later this year.
Dave Finnegan, from The Commitments, is invited Warrington audiences on a journey into sweet soul music on Sunday, November 17.
The musician and actor played bouncer and drummer Mickah Wallace in Alan Parker’s film about a working class band who aimed to fill the musical void in their hometown of Dublin.
Since then, Dave has performed alongside legendary artists as James Brown, Edwin Starr, BB King, Dan Ackroyd and Alexander O’Neal.
And for the past decade, Dave has been the charismatic frontman of The Commitments touring band – an eight-piece ensemble who continue to take inspiration from the blockbuster’s soundtrack.
At Parr Hall, Dave Finnegan’s The Commitments will perform all the beloved songs from the film and more – channelling the sounds of his heroes like Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett.
A spokesperson for the tour said: “This is an unmissable opportunity to experience the magic of sweet soul music live on stage – promising an evening of passion, rhythm and infectious energy that has come to define Dave Finnegan's Commitments.”
Tickets are on sale now; visit parrhall.culturewarrington.org/whats-on/the-commitments or call Box Office on 442345.
