LYMM-based radio station Cheshire's Mix 56 has won a grant of £1,655 to help boost its broadcasting.
The station got the money in the latest hotly-contested funding round from the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund in what was a hotly-contested funding round.
The grant has been used to purchase mobile studio and outside broadcast equipment.
The additional equipment will allow the team to get out and about this summer with more outside broadcasts.
And it can recruit more volunteers – ones who want to join the presentation team, but who might have a problem getting to the studio in Lymm.
Ian James, from MIX56, said: “Since we started broadcasting during lockdown, we’ve been doing some amazing things both on and off air.
"This much-needed funding will allow us to serve the community even more, allowing us to get out and about this summer – and will also provide a valuable lifeline for volunteers when it comes to remote training and broadcasting.
"We are so grateful to Manchester Airport and the Community Trust Fund for this award.”
The cash will also greatly help with the training programme – enabling the team to provide remote training and providing an opportunity for presenters to practice before going live on-air.
Following the January meeting of the trustees of the Manchester Airport Community Trust, Alison Green, community engagement co-ordinator said: “It was an extremely hotly contested meeting and they granted 23 awards in total. I am delighted that MIX56 was among those with a positive outcome.”
