RESIDENTS of a Warrington village are unable to call 999 from landline today, Wednesday.

Villagers in Culcheth will have to use mobile phones if they wish to get hold of the emergency services.

There is a technical issue leaving landlines unable to call Cheshire Police, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service.

The emergency services say they are aware of the issue, and that it is set to be resolved by 6pm.

In a statement, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are aware of technical issues involving landlines in the Culcheth area that are unable to access 999.

“If you need to contact the emergency services, please call 999 from a mobile phone.

“Normal service is expected to be available around 6pm this evening, Wednesday.”
