Independent coffee shop chain, The Coffee House, opened its doors to their latest store in Birkenhead’s, Pyramid Shopping Centre on Saturday (February 17).

Founded in 2011 in Warrington, by brothers Chris and Stephen Shelmerdine, the brand says its “dedicated to changing the way people eat, drink, and relax in their local communities”.

The firm is based in Warrington and has outlets in Golden Square and Lymm.

Co-founder Chris said: “We are really looking forward to offering our quality products and introducing our new, friendly team to the community of Birkenhead.

“We are passionate about creating a relaxing customer experience and believe we will offer something different, with our hand-roasted coffee, freshly baked cakes and delicious range of fresh food.”

From the bean to cup, the coffee is roasted in their Warrington-based, central production facility, along with their range of cakes, lovingly baked by their team. Additionally, they offer a wide range of food, from breakfast muffins, toasties and paninis, to wraps, sandwiches and salads.

Each store features a signature interior design with exclusive wall murals throughout, that pay homage to each location. The Birkenhead store has been furnished with a bespoke wooden counter, handmade by the two brothers' father, industrial-style furnishings, ambient lighting, and comfortable seating to create a modern and relaxing environment.

Lizzie Clarke, Head of Marketing for The Coffee House, said: “We’ve had a really warm welcome so far, with many positive comments about the food, drinks, and service. Many of the same faces have returned since their first visit, which is fantastic and the store already has a really nice community feel to it.”
