HEROIC firefighters ‘saved the life’ of a puppy whose head was stuck in a crate.
After taking her cat for emergency surgery, Lucy Smith returned to her Padgate home to that find her three-month-old puppy’s head was wedged in a tiny gap in its crate.
Siberian Husky Hatchi was distressed and crying and there was no way that Lucy could free her.
In a state of panic, Lucy called the fire brigade and a crew arrived in less than 15 minutes.
Three firefighters from Birchwood attended and got straight to work.
Two of them got in the cage with Hatchi to keep her still while one cut the cage to free her.
“If they hadn’t have come, I probably wouldn’t have a puppy if I am totally honest,” Lucy said.
“If it wasn’t for them, I have no doubt whatsoever that I would not have Hatchi right now.
“They were so focused and were just trying to keep her calm, I was just in bits because in essence I was losing my dog right in front of my eyes.”
“They were just amazing and I cannot thank them enough.”
