BRIANNA Ghey’s mum has said the vigil held in Warrington for her daughter was ‘absolutely beautiful’.
The service took place in Old Marketplace at Golden Square on Sunday and saw hundreds of people come together to remember Brianna on the first anniversary of her murder.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast this morning, Thursday, Esther Ghey said how important the vigil was to her.
“It was an opportunity for us to remember Brianna for who she was rather than what happened to her,” Esther said.
“All of her friends were so brave and they did such lovely speeches and they sang so brilliantly.
“It was a celebration of Brianna’s life and it was absolutely beautiful how people came together and showed that love for Brianna.”
As well as Brianna’s friends, the vigil also heard tributes and speeches from a number of other people including Esther, Brianna’s head teacher Emma Mills, and Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols.

In this morning’s BBC Breakfast appearance, Esther also spoke about her campaigning.
Alongside the Peace in Mind campaign, Esther is campaigning for new laws ‘making mobile phone companies take more responsibility’ in helping parents safeguard children online and monitor their internet usage.
It comes after she previously spoke of how child-safe phones monitoring young peoples’ internet use would ‘without doubt’ have saved her daughter’s life.
So far, more than 90,000 people have signed the petition.
