A WARRINGTON man whose body was discovered at a Salvation Army hostel died of a multiple drugs overdose.
Matthew Addis was found dead in bed at supported housing unit James Lee House, on Brick Street in the town centre, at around 10.30am on Friday, June 7, last year.
Police officers who attended the scene said it seemed the 40-year-old’s death was not suspicious.
Shortly after the body was found, a spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "At 10.27am on Friday, June 7, police were called to a sudden death of a man at an address in Brick Street, Warrington.
“Enquiries suggest there are no suspicious circumstances, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
An inquest was opened at Warrington Coroner's Court two months later due to the cause of death believed to be 'unnatural'.
The inquest concluded this month, February, when the findings of Victoria Davies, area coroner for Cheshire, were read to the court.
Ms Davies confirmed Mr Addis died of multiple organ failure brought on by medium-level drug toxicity, exacerbated by underlying medical conditions.
Drugs found in his body after he died included methadone, cocaine, alcohol and tramadol.
The court concluded the death of Mr Addis was an accident.
James Lee House, where Mr Addis was living when he died, provides accommodation for up to 54 adults experiencing homelessness in the area.
