WARRINGTON Borough Council’s cabinet has approved a housing strategy.

A report on it came before the cabinet at its meeting on Monday.

It set out the summary background around the need for a ‘coherent’ housing strategy and requests approval of the housing strategy.

“Warrington is a popular place to live with a thriving, vibrant, and diverse economy,” said the report.

“The housing strategy is one of several key documents that set out how we intend to bring forward plans to develop the best possible housing offer for current and future residents alongside and complementary to a growing economy.

“The Local Plan, Warrington Means Business, The First and Last Mile, Central 6 Masterplan and the Local Transport Plan together with the Housing Strategy set out that plan.”

But it said that there are still people who are currently ‘not fully benefitting’ from the opportunities presented by a growing economy and ‘whose quality of life falls short of the level that they have a right to expect’.

It added: “Creating equality across our housing market, regardless of tenure, and the reduction of homelessness, are primary objectives of this housing strategy.”

As recommended, the cabinet approved the housing strategy.
