Bury’s Jsky to headline charity concert for Brianna Ghey

Brianna died aged 16 after being stabbed with a hunting knife 28 times in her head, neck, chest and back in Culcheth Linear Park in Warrington on the afternoon of February 11 last year.

Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe, who were both aged 15 at the time, were found guilty of her murder and sentenced last week.

BBC presenter Jsky, from Bury, has been announced as the headline act for the Live Your Truth concert, which will be taking place on Sunday, February 18 at The Brewers on Canal Street in Manchester.

The event will raise money for the non-profit organisation, Peace in Mind UK, a charity set up by Brianna’s mum, Esther.

As well as Jsky, the Live Your Truth concert features a line-up of LGBTQ+ talent including Smashby and X Factor star Amrick Channa.

It is the brainchild of trans activist and star of Channel 4's Banged Up Jaxon Feeley and will be hosted by Gaydio presenters Paris Munro and Helen Scott.

Jsky, who has his own radio show on Gaydio, said: "What happened to Brianna Ghey was truly awful, and we are all still very much feeling the impact.

“When I was asked to support this event, I knew it was something I couldn't say no to or shy away from.

“As a community we still have a long way to go but we cannot live in fear."

Through launching Peace in Mind UK, Esther aims to promote resilience, empathy and unity and prevent an attack such as what her daughter was subjected to.

Although she has already raised funds to provide a mindfulness teacher in every school in Warrington, Esther is hoping to create more resources that will teach children how to better take care of their mental health and have empathy for those around them.
