A FIRE broke out at Warrington school.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Bridgewater High School on Broomfields Road on Friday evening (January 19).
Two crews, one each from the Penketh and Warrington stations, arrived at around 4pm to find a fire in a classroom.
Two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the flames before the area was ventilated.
Thankfully, everyone inside the building was accounted for.
An investigation to establish the cause of the blaze will now take place, CFRS has confirmed.
As a result of the fire, the school has had to cancel events it was due to host this weekend.
The Little Children's Market North West was due to stage an event at the school on Sunday (January 21).
“We were informed Friday evening that there had been a serious fire at Bridgewater High School and understandably, they needed to postpone our booking,” said a spokesperson for the event.
“We were overwhelmed with the support of the local community while we tried to source a solution that would allow our event to go ahead, but unfortunately on a Friday night, we were unable to find one that was suitable.”
All stallholders were contacted about the cancellation of the event on Saturday morning and organisers are now in the process of securing another date.
Meanwhile, Warrington Youth Orchestra has confirmed that rehearsals have been cancelled as a result of the fire.
"There has been a major fire incident at Bridgewater High School," a spokesperson said.
"Rehearsals have been cancelled until further notice.
"We will update you when we have further information."
