She started Love Beauty by Erin when she was 18 and has spent the past three years perfecting her skills and building up a loyal client base.

I started my business in September 2020 I was 18.

Has it always been in the same location?

Yes, it’s always been in the same location - at home. I started off doing people’s lashes on my mum’s sofa and then moved into the downstairs office space and made the room my own.

Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?

I grew up in Orford and I have lived here my whole life with my parents, who do everything to help me grow my business.

Tell me a bit about your salon/business. What do you do? What services do you provide?

Love Beauty is my passion. I have always loved all things beauty. My services include lash extensions, nails (including gels, builder gels and acrylics) with nail art, brows and Dermaplanes. I have a wide range of coloured gel polishes and acrylic powders to choose from and even coloured / glittery lash extensions! I do evening appointments and all day on a Friday and I also work part time at another job three days a week doing IT support.

Why this type of business? What’s your hair and beauty background?

I had no previous experience in beauty other than I really enjoyed doing my makeup and special effects style makeup in the last year of high school. After leaving school, I studied IT in college but I realised that the beauty industry is more suited for me.

Why did you decide to start up your own business?

I decided to start up my own business because I love the creative side to this industry and it is forever expanding too.

How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect your business?

I opened midway through the pandemic so I’d say that it delayed the start of my business. But I’m a big believer in good things coming to those who wait.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?

I don’t like to compare myself to other businesses as everyone has their own style and ways of creating their work.

Why do loyal clients return to your business?

I would say loyal clients return to me for appointments as I have created a good relationship with them as well as providing a good service which lasts some time.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?

Over the next 12 months, I want to keep powering on with getting new clients and growing my business further. I would love to do some new courses and to expand my treatment list even further. I haven’t really got any intention of relocating as I feel like my beauty room gives a sense of privacy and a homely feel, which is perfect for my clients.
