A WOMAN has been sentenced by the courts after admitting her role in a burglary of a popular Chinese restaurant.

It was reported last month that a woman had been named by the courts after being charged with burglary.

It comes following a reported burglary at Maplewood Restaurant, a Cantonese-style Chinese eatery on Warrington Road in Bold Heath.

The eatery is regularly named as one of the best Chinese restaurants in the area.

The burglary was committed at 11.38pm on January 21, with Charlotte Clarke later being charged with a count of burglary with intent to steal.

The particulars of the charge alleged that the 21-year-old, of Skipton Close in Runcorn, entered Maplewood Restaurant as a trespasser with intent to steal.

This charge of burglary was admitted by the defendant, who entered a guilty plea.

A charge of interference with a white Audi A6 Sport on the same evening on Warrington Road with the intention that an offence of theft would be committed within was withdrawn by the court.

She entered the plea to the burglary charge when she appeared before Chester Magistrates’ Court, with magistrates, after hearing from prosecutor Lucy McGowan, proceeding to sentence.

Clarke was sentenced to a conditional discharge for the next 12 months.

This means no punishment is imposed, but if she does commit another offence within the next year, she will be brought back to court to be sentenced for both the old and new offences.

In addition, it was ordered that Clarke pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £120 and a statutory surcharge to fund victim services of £26.

Magistrates approved an application from the defendant for the money to be deducted from her benefits.
